Children and Young People
Organisation: Based in Rochester, Strood Youth Centre works with young people aged 8 to 19 offering a range of activities including sports, music, arts, cookery and more.
Project Overview: One of the centres aims is to get young people active and one way they achieve this is through archery sessions. The archery equipment has deteriorated over the years, so the fund was used to purchase new targets and stands to continue to engage young people and attract new members.
Impact:
- Delivery of safe sessions
- Session are now part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Development of new skills
- Increased confidence and self esteem
Next Steps: The centre have recently purchased an arrows archery set allowing them to take the activity out to the community. This will hopefully recruit more young to the centre and create community to club transition.
