White Horse Football Club
Kent Sport Small Grant
Footballs, specialist markers & mini pop-up goals.
About the project…
What was the small grant used for?
To support the funding of equipment to be used during small sided games and drills. This ensured we could run the session on club funds and small voluntary donations from those attending.
What impact did the funding have on the participants?
One of our biggest success stories is a young lad called Tom, who has social and emotional needs who has suffered terribly from bullying at several clubs previously. He turns up every week and is very enthusiastic, and feedback from his parents is that he thoroughly enjoys the sessions. We’re particularly pleased with this outcome; turning previous negative experiences of football into a positive one.
Did you encounter any challenges when attempting to set up the project?
Projects like these do require funding and support from the club, which means we rely on the club fundraising throughout the season, generating a reserve fund to cover pitch costs and equipment for the sessions. The grant from Kent Sport supported these sessions in a big way, enabling us to purchase the necessary equipment.
