About the project…
What impact has the funding had on your club and the people involved in the project?
We had planned a return to face to face activities at the end of October but with the situation in Kent at the time we were unable to do this and so we looked to new ways of adapting.
During the period of support we increased our pre-recorded videos with our sessional dance instructors, who were familiar faces to the children, with instructions to familiar routines and music, or doing stretching exercises as the children would in dance classes.
During the whole pandemic we have been communicating regularly with parents on a private WhatsAapp group, as well as in our closed Facebook group, and have requested feedback from families on how the videos were being received; it was very positive although families were keen to know when the face to face activities were going to resume.
We are very grateful for the support offered by the Kent Sport Everyday Active Emergency small grant which helped us to cover the interim staff costs associated with planning and delivering our regular weekly Dance stars club.
