About the project…
How did you identify a need for your project?
We have a thriving junior section with parents delivering their children to match and practice sessions and with some fathers also members of the adult team. However there is a gap in activities that attract mothers and sisters other than a few who already have an interest in the game. We were aware that some would have liked to participate in a game related activity and so we wanted to offer a women & girls soft ball activity with the outcome to develop fun match playing squads.
Did you encounter any challenges when attempting to set up the project?
The Club has already reached the stage of having two Saturday adult teams, one adult Sunday league team and one teenager development Sunday team but also a greatly expanded junior section of 150 boys and girls playing in eight age group squads. However from the expansion of the Kings Hill residential developments the club still have almost 100 youngsters on a waiting list and this needs the volunteer base to expand to accommodate more playing opportunities!
