Sport involved in at a national level:
Shukokai Karate Kent
Training and entry fees to the KSI World Championships in Stockholm
What are some of your best achievements to date?
I won a bronze medal for fighting in the Kimura Shukokai Karate World Championships in Stockholm in 2019 and gold in the Team Kata event. The year before, I won gold at the European Championships and silver in the Team Kata in Estonia. Over the last year I have focused on my GCSEs and have only participated in the English Karate Federation National Championships in Sheffield, where I won bronze in the Team Kata.
What do you do to help you prepare for a competition?
Intensive training sessions five times per week.
What are some of the challenges you have experienced within your chosen sport?
A lot of travel is involved, including staying at hotels, which makes it expensive to compete at national and international level. More recently, it has been hard to keep training whilst preparing for my GCSEs, which means I’ve had to take a step back from training.
