We aim to improve quality of life through sport and physical activity, by working with partners to offer a wide range of sustainable opportunities to all. Our work enables people to develop and maintain good physical and mental wellbeing, as well as providing opportunities for social development within communities. Being active supports young people to get the best start in life and enables older adults to feel socially included and live independently for longer.
Since their creation the Kent Sport Small Grant Scheme for Organisations has supported more than 145 Kent based organisations to increase physical activity participation within the local community, funding a wide range of resources such as sports equipment, team kit and marketing costs. And through the Kent Sport Small Grant Scheme for FANS Members we have helped over 220 talented young sports performers to enhance their performance and achieve fantastic results in national and international competitions by replacing vital sports equipment, assisting with travel & accommodation costs and competition entry fees.
Furthermore, in April 2020 Kent Sport launched the Everyday Active emergency small grant scheme to support clubs and organisations affected by COVID-19, and Sport England announced their National Lottery funded Tackling Inequalities Fund that aims to tackle inequalities in activity levels by working with its partners to reach those most in need during the pandemic.
With a strong understanding of the needs and issues in their areas, Sport England has channelled two phases of funding totalling £220,000 through Kent Sport to support community groups in their areas because of the impacts of COVID-19.
