This autumn, Kent Sport and Explore Kent are working together to encourage the residents of Kent and Medway to #GoOutside!
We can all feel a little bit deflated when the autumn months arrive, the leaves start to fall and the days get shorter. For many, the arrival of autumn, coupled with the pressures of a busy life, means a time of being less active. However, we want to encourage everybody to enjoy the many benefits of being active outdoors, whatever the weather or season.
Don’t hibernate, #GoOutside!
Most people are aware of the physical benefits of an active lifestyle but being active outdoors can also do wonders for your mental health, as well as being great for your social life. We all face pressures in life on our time and energy, and some people find it harder to find the motivation to be active throughout the autumn and winter months. But the change of season is no reason to go into hibernation for the next six months. Getting active outdoors needn’t be a burden – it could be as simple as going for a stroll in the park, throwing a ball around or dusting off the bikes and going for a ride with the kids. In Kent and Medway, we’re fortunate to have a wealth of stunning outdoor destinations, parks and trails right across the county that people can access for free. Why not try something different and use an outdoor gym or go for a parkrun!
Have you made a resolution to be more active in 2017? Lots of us join a gym and promise to get fit at the start of a new year, but after a few months we lose interest. There is another way! You don’t need to spend a fortune on gym memberships – you can get fit and have fun by doing loads of free outdoor activities across the county.
Throughout January, as part of our #GoOutside campaign, Explore Kent and Kent Sport are sharing 10 ways to get fit for free this year. So if you’re up for a more active 2017, click below to read the blog, and start 2017 the right way by getting active outdoors.
