Introduction

Ryan played for the GB Men’s Football Team at London 2012, the first time GB has entered a team since 1960.

Aged 22 he began his career at Gillingham and attended the The Robert Napier School. He signed for Chelsea aged just 16 in 2006 and was sent out on loan to various lower league clubs, making over 100 appearances, before breaking into Chelsea’s first team last season and appearing in the Champions League Final against Bayern Munich in May, becoming the first player to make his Champions League debut in the final. He was also an unused substitute in the FA Cup Final victory v Liverpool.

Ryan has represented England at under 17-21 levels.

Team GB matches at London 2012.

Team GB played their first match against Senegal in Manchester on 26 July and drew 1:1, next match was against UAE on 29 July when they won 3:1 at Wembley and then again at Wembley 1:0 against Uruguay on 1 August.  Onto quarter finals when they drew against South Korea 1:1 on 4 August in Cardiff but then went on to lose on penalties.
