Charlotte Evans demonstrating VI skiing exercises

With the opening of the Paralympic Winter Games 2022 only a year away, GB Snowsport have launched a new set of VI Skiing resources designed for use in the national School Games programme.

Initially created as part of the Kent School Games programme, with funding from Kent Sport, the VI Skiing challenge cards were designed and developed by Jon Rye and Charlotte Evans MBE. Jon is Programme Director at Bubble & Scruff, while Charlotte is a Paralympic Gold Medal winning Super-G guide. The resources are designed to introduce an Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games disciplines into the school sports environment.

As well as 2014 Paralympic Gold medallist Charlotte, both Millie Knight and Madi Rowlands herald from the county, making it a stronghold in Paralympic snowsport. Millie is a Paralympic Alpine Skier who achieved two Silvers and a Bronze medal in the 2018 Paralympic Games, while Madi Rowlands is a GB Snowsport Freestyle skier and Youth Winter Olympic Gold medallist.

“With one year to go until the start of the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games 2022, we are delighted to support the launch of this fantastic new resource. With these new VI Skiing challenge cards, young people across the country will have the opportunity to test out some of the key skills that our athletes put into practice day in, day out on the slopes.”

Jayne Kavanagh, GB Snowsport

“The Kent School Games are always striving to create inclusive opportunities and we are delighted that this resource will be shared across the country. The Kent School Games began in 2008 as an Olympic and Paralympic legacy project so how fitting that this resource will be launched with one year to go until the opening of the Paralympic Winter Games 2022.”
