All summer, Kent Sport are running the #MyActiveFamily campaign, helping to inspire families to get out and get active. Across the county there are all sorts of brilliant places to go, activities to try and events to enjoy, and getting active as a family is a great way to be healthy and have fun together. Today we’re featuring footgolf, a combination of football and golf, which is great fun to play and can be enjoyed by all the family.
Remember to share your #MyActiveFamily experiences on social media using the hashtag #MyActiveFamily and check out what other families have been getting up to.
Footgolf is played on a golf course, with the object of the game being to get the ball in the hole using only your feet, in the fewest number of shots possible. It follows the same basic rules of golf, but you don’t need any special equipment or coaching to give it a try.
The game is hugely enjoyable – whether you’re an experienced footballer, a keen golfer or a total novice at both, everyone can have fun, with the game providing plenty of laughs as well as a bit of healthy competition between friends and family.
See what happened when Youtuber Spencer FC had a go at footgolf:
Footgolf’s popularity has taken off in recent years, and Kent is a great place to play, with 12 footgolf courses spread across the county. You don’t even need your own football to play – most courses offer football hire for a small fee. A round generally costs between £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s, and lasts between an hour and two hours.
So why not find your nearest footgolf course and take the family along to see if you can go round the course under par? We hope you and your family enjoy giving footgolf a try this summer!
