All summer, Kent Sport are running the #MyActiveFamily campaign, helping to inspire families to get out and get active together. Across the county there are all sorts of brilliant places to go, activities to try and events to enjoy, and getting active together, as a family, is a great way to be healthy and have fun together. In this first blog, we’re featuring some of the activities planned by local councils and leisure providers across the county – we hope you find something fun to do. Dartford Borough Council are running a “Summer Sizzlers” campaign of activities during the school holidays, promoting great ways for children and families to get active. The Play4Life programme is a free series of activities, including archery, fencing and active games.

Kent Sport and Golding Vision are running free sports and physical activities in three areas of Maidstone throughout the summer, until October as part of the Get Active programme. There is also a six-week programme in Marden. Visit facebook.com/getactivegolding for more information.
There’s loads happening for families across Medway this summer, with several great programmes aimed at getting families more active.
The Medway Mile is coming up on July 21st in Rochester Castle Gardens. This is the 10th year of the popular event, and includes all sorts of family attractions, along with the chance to get active and run a mile together.
Throughout the summer, there is swimming at The Strand, plus much more at this popular leisure attraction.
ParkSport is a series of festivals and weekly “Pitch up and Play” sessions, bringing fun, informal sport to parks and open spaces across Medway.
Medway Park is hosting the Wheelchair Rugby League Premier League Grand Final on 16 September, with family tickets priced at £12. The event is sure to be a great sporting spectacle. Click here for details.
There is a Medway Sport open day on 17 September, with leisure centres across the area offering free activities.
Medway is hosting a Disability Sport Open Day on Saturday 23 September at Medway Park, offering a great chance to try out a range of new and exciting sports for free. Click here for more information.
Thanet District Council are running Summer Blast, a summer sports programme for families, providing free activities across a variety of locations.
Fit and Fed is a programme providing physical activity sessions and meals for young people in Thanet who are in receipt of a free school meal.
Park Lives sessions are taking place in Margate and Ramsgate, offering families activities such as volleyball, tug of war, football and circuit training.
Beach Lives sessions are taking place on Margate Beach and Viking Bay, offering a range of activities including beach volleyball, samba football and circuit training.
