This summer, for the fourth year running, the National Beach Volleyball Finals 2016 will be taking place on the golden sands of Margate beach on 20 and 21 August. Thanet District Council (TDC) Sport Matters team will be hosting the event, which attracts the top players throughout the UK and across Europe.

The National Charity Partnership, a partnership between Diabetes UK, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Tesco, will headline sponsor this years event.  The partnership is giving its support as part of it’s national Let’s Do This campaign, which aims to encourage hundreds of thousands of people to improve their health by getting active and eating better.

The event will also be supported by Canterbury Christ Church University Sports team and local coaching provider, Motiv8 Sports, who have been integral in assisting TDC in bringing the Finals back to Margate.

Volleyball England has rewarded the venue with the prestigious finals for a fourth consecutive year beating tough competition from other coastal towns across the country following Margate hosting 6 years of qualifying events and being rated the best event on tour.

Players will be trying to qualify for the Margate finals throughout the summer’s other events at Great Yarmouth, Skegness, Weymouth and Bridlington, before the beach season comes to an end with the Finals weekend  in Margate.
